Content Strike: March 21

For those of you who don't already know, there has been a strike scheduled for Friday, March 21st, 2008, during which we hope to have many members of LiveJournal provide LJ with absolutely no content for twenty-four hours. This means no posting and no commenting. If you post elsewhere and have it set up to be posted through a feed on LiveJournal, don't do it. Stay away from LiveJournal for twenty-four hours. That can't be too hard, can it? I know some of you are probably quite active on LiveJournal and will find it hard to stay away for an entire day, just as I will, but this is something that needs to be done, to show the people running LiveJournal that we're watching the changes they are making, that we're paying attention, that we're discontent, and that we want to be heard and taken in to consideration. We are not simply users who can be tossed to the side and ignored. We are the people who make up LiveJournal. Without us, without the content we create, without our words, our voices, our creativity, our participation, there would be no LiveJournal. This is a fact, and it needs to be realized and understood and then taken in to consideration when making decisions regarding the way that LiveJournal is run. The strike is only a few days away, so there isn't all too much time to prepare. While this is unfortunate, it isn't enough to keep this strike from taking place. It will take place, the second it is meant to, and it would be best to have as many people take part as possible. Please, spread the word. Spread it fast. There are only a few days to organize this. If you find that you care about LiveJournal or care about the people you interact with on LiveJournal or simply want it to remain a place where you can entertain yourself without constant censorship and money-hungry practices being thrown in without the consideration of those who use the service, act now. If you don't wish to spread the word, that is fine, but please: refrain from using LiveJournal on Friday, March 21st. Do something else for a change. It's for a good cause. (:

For background on this strike and why it is being held, please read the following posts:
http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/394838.html
http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/395310.html

To find out exactly when the strike begins and ends, depending on where you are located, please see this:
http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/395125.html

What's this about?

* It's about free and ad-free LiveJournal accounts being abolished for new members, ignoring the advice from the newly-formed Advisory Board.
* It's about LJ staff trying to sneak this decision in under the radar, and when people found out, telling the users it was done 'to make the signup process less confusing'.
* It's about LJ staff failing to apologize for trying to hide the facts from view and for lying about the actual reasons for their actions.
* And finally, it's about the latest decision to hide certain user interests from the list of Most Popular Interests, some of them being fanfiction, bisexuality, sex and depression. This decision was not announced or explained in any way. Users found out for themselves.

-Taken from the journal of m03m

AND ICONS TO SUPPORT THIS:

Projekt Revolution Concert 9/1

Ok, well last night was pretty intense so I decided to share it with all you guys and for those of you who are in Europe waiting for HIM to just hurry up and come to you, don't worry they were awesome... Ok, so yesterday me and my friend michelle went to the projekt revo concert in tinley park but we got there a little late so we missed Madina Lake and Styles of Beyond. But Madina Lake had a tent set up for autographs so we sat next to it in the grass. Turns out Matthew, one of the twins, was late so he ran by us to get tot he tent but michelle caught him and ask for a pic and a hug and she got it, haha.
The line for the signings from Madina Lake was SO long so we didnt even bother getting in it. We listened to The Bled, and Saosin, and MSI before Madina Lake was done signing and started to leave when michelle caught Nathan, the other twin, and got him to sign her poster and get a picture, and i looked at the signiture and it was soo messy, for poor guy must have been so tired.
We saw Gerard scoot by in a golf cart like...5 times with a bunch of people screaming so me and michelle decided it was for his own amusement since he really had no reason to go back and forth in a matter of an hour, maybe it was his hobby or a new sport im not sure...haha

A few minutes later Saosin walked over to the tent next to Madina Lake's old one and started signing and we got a few pics of them sitting there but that was about it, the line was yet again the Great Wall of China... So we gave up and walked over to the Merch booths and got two Projekt Revo shirts but it took a while cause they had pretty much sold out of everything...: ( About 3:50 they opened the gates to the Main stage and it was seriously like the Running of the Bulls haha. we stayed back in fear of being killed so we just bought our shirts and walked over.

We had Lawn tickets so it wasn't like it would be the end of the world if we didnt get there first. We were about 50 feet back from the front of the lawn so it wasn't that bad. Julien-K wasn't bad but the singer had something wrong so they had this guy that sounded like Chester from LP fill in... so it was a little off.

Placebo was great, the lead singer Brian Molko [before starting 'Special K'] said, "We don't have breakfast cereal in England....we just drink tea, and eat gravel...so this song is definitely not about cereal.." haha everyone laughed so hard. i remember something about 'gravel' not actually being 'gravel' so i think it was just for the sake of the joke : ).

HIM came on soon after and i freaked out, my hands were shaking so bad i couldn't even take pictures so Michelle did it for me, Ville had this paper boy hat like Bon Scott from AC DC so it looked like his hair was really short : ( but it was just cause it was SO hot yesterday.
I got to see Linde pace around in his circles during the songs! and Mige and Linde had this 'strings fight' by going up to each other in the middle of a song in the center of the stage and see who could go faster which was awesome!
this blonde chick though, in front of me kept having grass fights with one of her friends and taking myspace pictures and blocking my view....so i scalped her.. haha jk. but this screen came on closer to us in the middle so i could see much better, probably saved her some verbal abuse.. but everything was fine after that i tried not to watch the screen as much though cause i've watched them on a screen for long enough as it is i wanted to actually see them, you know? but they only showed Burton on the screen once so i paid more attention to the stage instead.

They played Passion's and Kiss of Dawn, and Killing Loneliness, and Butterfly, Vampire Heart, Your Sweet 666, and a few others but i was so into it forgot! Ville was amazing but looked really tired so i felt a little bad, but they get to go home in a few days so hopefully that will make them feel a little better...Michelle was like 'I love it he takes a drag like..every 10 seconds but still sings!" haha
Gas was also awesome, totally on a roll, but when he threw his drumsticks out at the end i was sad cause i wasn't anywhere near the front to be able to snatch them... sure HIM was alittle rushed and stressed but STILL awesome. Linde did some improvising with guitar rifts and ville actually changed some of the lyrics when he threw in a snippit of Its All Tears but not much.

After HIM came Taking Back Sunday, and even though im not much of a fan they were still really good! Adam made several funny quotes, i dont remember all of them but a few were "These screens are freakin me out..." "How's my hair look?" [it was all crazy but he still looked mighty fine hahaha] "We're gonna play a few more, and I know a few of you guys out there are like 'fuck you dude i came here for some linkin park' haha...excuse my language ladies.." and "my people actually came from aurora so its nice being back here, but tonight you guys are gonna be our people, and we're gonna be your people....even though there's only 5 of us"
they also had a fill in drummer, i think his name was mike, or josh..but Mark hurt his back somehow, so they taught this guy all their songs in a few hours! and it was his 21st bday so we screamed him a "happy birthday!"

MCR was after them and i gotta be honest..it was f**king amazing! michelle had gone to the one they had here 2 years ago for Three Cheers and she said they were crazier last night than before! They had sparks flying down, flames shooting up, fireworks going off [mini ones] a ton of stuff. gerard was in a crazy mood of course, he said he missed us, and we missed them, started with a bunch of their new songs, and talked alot in between since they had an hour to kill.
they even played im not ok, venom, and you know wht they do to guys like us in prison. and the latter had an interesting beginning. he said "i've noticed in all my time of being on stage, that all the girls always scream louder than the boys..[girls scream] this i do not know, nor do i care.. but tonight let's prove that wrong" so he had all the guys scream and believe me when i say i was surprised how loud it was! And then he had them take off their shirts and swing them to the song so it was all pretty interesting o: )
later they played black parade which of course everyone knew..and a sad song that michelle liked, but i haven't gotten to listen to the whole new album so i was clueless and felt a little guilty : \

and of course after one of the songs for all the girls' happiness Gerard put his hands down his pants and michelle freaked out :D when it was over i looked at her and said 'u drugged him didnt u! he's probably so wasted on whatever u did to him!' and of course she agreed to the blame. hahaha
but overall the mcr show was intense!

After them was Linkin Park but they covered the stage with a sheet so we couldn't see what they were doing... and it stayed like that for about a half hour so we were all buzzing with excitement!
The Q101 guy came out and said LP was backstage and that we only had to wait a little longer but the liar went back and we had to wait anouther 15 minutes...but in the end it was sooo worth it!
They started playing with the sheet in front of them and and all the shadows looked really cool, they dropped the sheet and it looked like there was dozens of chairs stacked on top of each other but it was just the platforms stacked in a cool way.
They played soooooo much for the whole two hours i cant remember it all, Chester brought his son out for a little bit in between songs, everybody knew the linkin park songs which was very cool, and the coolest part was at the very end when they left the stage and we kept screaming, so they came back out and Mike was like..."Man, that was the first time in 10 years that i looked at Chester and said 'we gotta go back out there before they break something'" haha so we got 5 more songs out of them!
the LP show was SO cool, there was nothing that could even compare, everybody was singing, screaming, anything. during the sad songs mike said "hold up the blue lights of yer phones so i know yer not just talkin to yer friends" haha some ppl still did it old school and held up their lighters but looking at it, it showed how many people were really there and it was so packed i couldn't even fanthom how many there were!

But i got to say even though it was only my second concert it was the best ever! I seriously don't know how im gonna beat it next summer! maybe with a kickass HIM show somewhere along the way, huh? haha sorry if it was really long, but it was a really long day! and i promise as soon as michelle emails them to me i will post some of the pictures for all to enjoy, being that it was her camera!
